Desktop Power Supply Replacement

A desktop power supply should be replaced carefully. A failing or low-quality PSU can cause random shutdowns, startup problems, burning smells, unstable graphics card behaviour or damage to other components.

Signs of a possible PSU problem

• The computer does not power on at all
• The PC shuts down under load or during gaming
• The power supply fan is noisy or does not spin
• There is a burning smell or clicking sound
• A new graphics card needs more power connectors
• The computer starts briefly and then turns off

Compatibility checks

The replacement PSU must fit the case, provide enough wattage and include the correct motherboard, CPU and graphics card connectors. Cable routing and airflow also matter, especially in compact cases.

Why diagnosis matters

Startup problems are not always caused by the power supply. A shorted motherboard, faulty graphics card, bad RAM or failing storage drive can create similar symptoms. We test the likely causes before replacing parts.
